Family Program

Heather Shilton, VE3EMS and others hosted visiting family members showing off highlights of Toronto, Niagara, and Lake Ontario.

Thursday Night, July 21, 2004

Over 50 attendees and their family members went to the Stage West dinner theater where they first enjoyed a tasty meal before being entertained by a musical review called "British Invasion II - America Strikes Back", a delightful combination of music from the '60's British Invasion and American Pop.

Niagara Falls!  One of the Seven Wonders of the World!  A bus full of family members spent the day traveling to Niagara Falls complete with time at the falls.  On the way back, a stop at Niagara-on-the-Lake allowed a bit of shopping in this quaint town.

Busses transported family members to downtown Toronto where they enjoyed a mini-tour of the city-core (such as its theater district) and shopping at Eaton Centre.  Two other highlights of the day were a boat tour of the harbor and city-front and touring CN-Tower.  The tower has an observation floor at 1,100 feet above the City of Toronto allowing breathtaking views of the city and Toronto Islands.

Early Arrivals--Thursday, July 21, 2004

Several cars full of early arriving attendees traveled to the Hammond Radio Museum. Located only 45 minutes west of the Delta Meadowvale in Guelph, Ontario, the Hammond museum houses hundreds of amateur, military, and broadcast radios from the 1920's to the 1960's. Of special interest is the large Collins collection that includes not one, but two rare KW-1 AM transmitters!
