Banquet

The Banquet is a fine evening of food, conversation, entertaining presentation, and prizes from the prize table.  Our guest speaker at the banquet was Dennis Motschenbacher, K7BV/1, who gave us an interesting human perspective on DXpeditions with his talk on the "Timor Lorosae DXpedition, 4W/K7BV, Memories Beyond the Pile-ups". Barry Malowanchuk, VE4MA, won first crack at the fantastic prize table and walked away with a new FlexRadio SDR-1000. Barry should have been buying lottery tickets that night - he also won the raffle for a portable generator, graciously donated by Ted (W4VHF) and Itice (K4LVV) Goldthorpe.

The Toronto conference team ran such a good conference financially, that the Society was able to show support to four areas/agencies of interest.

CSVHFS presented $500 to the ARRL Defense of Frequencies Fund, $500 to ARRL BPL Defense efforts, $250 to AMSAT, and $250 to SETILeague.  In the photos left to right, Dennis Motschenbacher, K7BV/1 represents ARRL, Keith Pugh, W5IU represents AMSAT, and Dr. Paul Shuch, N6TX represents SETILeague.

CSVHFS 2004 Chambers Award Winner:  Gerald Youngblood, AC50G for his ground breaking work with Software Defined Radios which is advancing the art of VHF and above.

CSVHFS 2004 Wilson Award Winner:  Emil Pocock, W3EP for his work supporting the VHF Community with his many QST Columns 1992-2002.
