NBW-01 ORG - GRN - GRN 75mm felt round; silkscreened
Although numbered 01--likely from the 1945-47 timeframe.
There are reportedly only 5 or 6 known instances of this
patch and all but one are reportedly “mint”. Twice this patch has sold for
in excess of $2000. I am seeking more information and opinion on this
patch. The choice to collect this item is up to the collector. |

NBW-02 ORG T GRN C GRN 72mm round; REGION SEVEN
SCOUT LANDING with MI-WI MIWI stood not for “Michigan and Wisconsin”
but rather all four of the states in Region 7—Michigan, Indiana,
Wisconsin, and Illinois. Issued 1940-1942. |
|
NBW-03a ORG T GRN C GRN 72mm round; REGION SEVEN
SCOUT LANDING Arapaho makes a distinction between ORG and LOR.
Looking at 17 items in one sitting, the color difference is VERY slight.
MVE for minor variations exist would have been more appropriate.
In the ORG backgrounds, which all tend to have a brighter green, there
are TRM and NT varieties. |
|
NBW-03b LOR T GRN C GRN 72mm round; REGION SEVEN
SCOUT LANDING These have the darker green and all seem to be TRM (Twill
Right Medium). These NBW-03 issues ran from 1943 – 1948. |

NBW-04 ORG T DGR C DGR 10x51mm arc; CAMPER
Basic patch was earned on first trip. Camper strip was earned on 2nd visit.
NT with brighter green (vs TLM w/ DGR) variety has been found. |
|
NBW-05 ORG T DGR C DGR 10x51mm arc; PORTAGEUR
Portageur strip was earned on 3rd visit. Consider how rare this must be
considering the limited attendance during the war years, but also
consider the rarity of a Scout attending the Scout Landing three times
when there were other distractions like Jamborees, Philmont, and college. |
