Badly Drawn Boy.  I took this from a Beggar's Banquet Sampler, however, it is from "The Hour of Bewilderbeast"

Bjork  -  Unison.  I like the lush strings and I like the melody that she sings.  I think this would sound even better with a big choir arrangement and a powerful lead soloist.

Area  -  Too Far Away.  This band from Champaign, IL seems to have recently reformed.  This particular track is from a compilation on the Projekt label called "Cat Shaped Hole in my Heart".  The disk is intended to bring attention and funding for Feline Leukemia.

Low are from Duluth and have a reputation for being pretty minimalist.  This is a classic song by Joy Division slowed wayyyy down.  I like how it builds.

Chris Brown & Kate Fenner.  They warmed for the Tragically Hip on the 2000 tour.  I bought two of their disks from their table out in the foyer.  Since then I've bought another two from their website.  I think it's fine adult pop music.  I've been wearing their disks out the past six months.

David Sylvian.  While Sylvian is an acquired taste, I have it and like this piece despite not knowing what the lyrics are about.

Bettie Serveert  -  White Tales.  A great song with great embellishments.  I like the vocals and the squeal-ly guitars during the appropriate portions.

Jet's to Brazil  -  Chinatown.  Kinda a Green Day clone band.  I like the crunchy guitars.  Fun to sing along with despite not understanding the lyrics.  I like the alternating inflections on the line "I'm tired of fighting."

Miles Davis  -  Recollections.  I got this from the "Finding Forrester" Soundtrack.  This was in my 300 CD player and came up on random play.  I stopped what I was doing wondering "WHAT is this?".  It's 18 minutes long.  Generally, it's a very simple melody line with 3 or 4 phrases that is repeated over and over but each time with slight variations.  His band has lots of famous names like Joe Zawinful, Wayne Shorter, Chick Corea, and John McGlaughlin.  This was recorded 2/6/70 so you can imagine the times.  Jazz Fusion was arriving.  Since I've always been a fan of "ambient music", I'm rewarded in this piece with plenty of "boops and squeaks".  I like how it builds however I'm dissapointed by the lackluster ending.
